# 82 KNITTING TRIVIA
I thought I loved knitting slippers. I really did.
The first slipper is so much fun. A new pattern is so exciting. But that second slipper, that one I need to make to make to match the first, seems such a drag – "so redundant" (as youngest daughter says).

(grinning) Well..you could fill the single slipper with candy canes and hang it on the Christmas tree.
Once upon a time, I used to make more than one of the same design of a quilted item. Usually it was smaller pieces like pillows or wall hangings. On one occasion, my stepdaughter asked me to recreate a quilt in burgundy, gray and white for her.
Now, everything I do is one of a kind. There's not enough time left in my life to make copies of anything.
Having said that.....the single slipper would weigh heavily on my mind!

Buffy, thank you for bringing such insightful understanding. It will be comforting as I plod away on that second slipper -- if I can eventually force myself to do that repetitive act.
Oh, do I know how you feel! I have seven mismatched mostly-done socks in my work-in-progress basket. One is fun, two is tedius. :)
I applaud anyones attempt to knit a pair of anything.
she dances in dragon Hi, Nice to see you. As for your comment, I have only one thing to say "Ditto" (my work basket is also overflowing with half finished projects).
Roberta, I've been pondering this dilemma of yours for a few days now. I have come to the conclusion that you should have knitted them simultaneously. lol Seriously. That's the only way I manage to make 2 sleeves for my sweaters. Of course I was once well known for knitting vests.
Roberta....Liz just solved your problem. Well...maybe for the next time you decide to start slippers.
Have you seen the half socks that are being sold to wear with mules? Now you can knit just half a slipper and quit!
Buffy
Buffy, I didn't see or hear about half-socks but I'm going to be on the look out. I did buy a pair of mules for someone on my Christmas list so this just might be the little 'really trendy' thing to add to that small gift.
eliz, your solution is a good idea too. But I do have one small concern. When I was a working woman I could do ten jobs concurrently, but now I'm not even sure if I can do two. ;)
So who says you have to be wearing two of the same slipper? You have a wonderfully unique way of looking at things. Why should your perspective be limited to thoughts?
anne, you won't tell anyone, will you? Please don't tell anyone because 'yes' in the privacy of my own home, nothing matches when I get dressed in the morning -- not even my slippers. But most people are more dignified than I.
